This 5th Century BC calendar of the Mayans has proved remarkably accurate, comparing favorably with modern calendars. According to the Mayans, we are living in the fourth cycle which will end on 21 December this year. But will this Mayan prophecy cancel Christmas?
That the end of an age, or 5 125 year cycle, was not perceived as the end of the world is obvious, or humankind, presumably, would not have advanced into the Fourth Age. Although the Mayan calendar ends with the year 2012, it also prophesies the return of their god Kulkulkan – depicted as a flying dragon. Does this “dragon” fly in during the final month of 2012 and destroy the planet – or does he create a New Age?
The Mayan prophecy is not alone in pinpointing this fascinating final month of 2012. The Cherokee Indian calendar ends in 2012 with the return of another feathered friend – a seven-tailed flying rattlesnake.
The calendar of the Aztecs ends – you’ve guessed it – in 2012 with the return of Quetzalcoatl in the form of a flying dragon! And for the Hindu, 2012 apparently concludes the “age of the male demon”.
It’s interesting that 2012 is the Chinese year of the dragon, and also the elemental year of water. The books of Revelation and Daniel do not give us dates, but record visions of a “dragon” arising from the sea. Who or what is this dragon – and is it really destined to appear next month?
In biblical imagery the sea is used to signify the nations of the world. Daniel saw four great beasts rising from this sea of nations, but it is the fourth beast which concerns us here. It was more “dreadful and terrible” than the rest – strong, with great iron teeth. It broke in pieces and devoured and stamped the residue with its feet. This nation was harsh, unyielding and destructive. It was, Daniel said, different from the beasts, or nations, which had preceded it and it had ten horns. Daniel was a Jew taken as a slave to Babylon, and each of these nations was to have a vital part to play in the destiny of the nation of Israel. History clearly identifies the nations of this and other prophecies as Babylon, Medo-Persia and Greece. The fourth and most terrifying beast was Rome, which was the nation ruling Israel at the time of Christ. But Rome’s dominance of Israel did not end with Israel’s defeat and dispersion seventy years after the death of Christ. The ten horns of the beast envisaged by Daniel * were to play a final role in Israel’s history many years hence – in our time – today!
More than 260 years ago, Jonathan Edwards, one of America’s great Christian leaders tied the arrival of the Antichrist and the tribulation period to the year 2012. In 1878, Reverend William J. Reid in his “Lectures on the Revelation” declared that the papal system would reach its end in 2012.
Although the Jewish Zohar mentions no flying serpents in its prophecy for this year, it nevertheless has something incredibly relevant to say:
In the ‘Vaera’ section, volume 3, section 34, it declares that the signs heralding the coming of Mashiach (Messiah), point to the year 2012!
Dragon or Messiah?
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. (Rev 13:1)
Revelation goes on to describe this beast which bears characteristics of the first three nations of Daniels vision and then says this:
…and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads, as it were wounded to death: and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? (Rev 13:2,3)
We are looking for the coming of a man who arises from the Roman system and bears the name of blasphemy on his many heads – the “little horn” described by Daniel (Dan7:8). This will be false Messiah to the Jews, and a world leader – a man who will speak with the power and authority of the Dragon (Satan himself).
Will Christmas be Cancelled?
I am certain that the timing of the revelation of this “dragon” will be one of chaos and turmoil. A dragon birth is hardly likely to come without smoke and fire; neither can a rattle-snake with seven tails be expected to appear without some noise. A new leader on the scene would pass unnoticed without adequate fanfare. No, this is a time of sun-flares that we’ve been told will deeply affect our weather patterns and communications. It’s also a time when man is playing with the elements – see my blog on HAARP: USING WEATHER AS A WEAPON. Sadly, I believe there are people out there with a mission and the final seven years of this age are going to be characterized by intense upheaval and hardship.
I expect if this is the devil’s hour, Christmas, for most people this year, will be cancelled.
